Our Installation Method

We start by excavating to the proper depth based on your soil type and the intended use. Driveways need deeper excavation than walkways to support vehicle weight. We remove all organic material and unstable soil, then grade everything for proper drainage.

Next, we install a compacted gravel base in layers, compacting each layer thoroughly. This is critical in Lafayette's clay soil, which expands and contracts with moisture changes. A properly compacted base prevents settling, sinking, and the dreaded "wave" effect you see in poorly installed driveways.

We install edge restraints to keep pavers locked in position, then add a layer of bedding sand. Each paver is carefully placed according to your chosen pattern, checked for level, and adjusted as needed. The final step is sweeping polymeric sand into all joints and activating it with water. This sand hardens to prevent weed growth and keep pavers from shifting.

For driveways, we only use pavers rated for vehicular traffic and install them at the correct thickness. Cutting corners with thin pavers or inadequate base depth leads to cracking and failure. We do it right the first time so you won't need costly repairs later.
